General Description (概要)

Field research methods of cultural anthropology involving participation in field studies. Students have to take another course to spend a few weeks in research localities. Students are required to take ANT311, ANT312, ANT313 in this order.
文化人類学的フィールドワークの方法等について学ぶ。２～３週間の現地調査を別に実施。人類学調査実習I,IIはIより順番に従って履修しなければならない。
This class aims to help prepare students for ethnographic fieldwork to be conducted during the summer recess. During the first half of the course, students learn such data collection skills as participant observations and ethnographic interviews. The class also covers nature of a research proposal and discusses how to write one. During the second half of the course, each student develops own research questions and gains understanding of the field.The class also deals with practical issues related to conducting a fieldwork.
* The fieldwork is to be conducted in Fukueshima (a Goto island). Students who are thinking about registering for the class are strongly advised to attend the first class.
このクラスは、文化人類学のフィールドワークを行うための学問的・実務的準備をするコースである。有意義なフィールドワークを行うためには事前の準備が不可欠であり、現地に行けば何か「見つかる」というわけではない。コースの前半では、参与観察、エスノグラフィック・インタビューといった人類学における典型的なデータ収集方法について復習を兼ねながら、調査計画書（プロポーザル）の性質およびその書き方について学ぶ。コース後半では、受講生それぞれの具体的調査トピックにそってフィールドについて理解を深める。なお、夏季休暇中に行われる実際のフィールドワークは鹿児島県の徳之島で実施する予定である。日程は8月2日（入島）から16日（出島）の予定だが、変更もあり得るので受講希望者は必ず授業初回に参加すること。

4. To understand issues related to conducting ethnographic fieldwork.

Notes(注意事項)

1. このコースは、夏季休暇中に行う人類学現地調査（ANT312）及び秋学期に開講の人類学調査実習II （ANT 313）との3コース連続履修を前提としたものです。受講においては時間と労力を要するので注意してください。
2. 受講学生は夏期の人類学現地調査において実際にデータを収集し、人類学調査実習IIにてデータ分析およびエスノグラフィーの執筆を行います。
3. 夏季の現地調査実習の費用は学生の自己負担です。
4. 夏季の調査実習の単位は秋学期に取得となります。よって秋から留学予定の人は残念ですが履修は難しいです。
5. 夏季の現地調査のみの履修は不可です。
